President John Evans Atta Mills sier at Ghana ikke vil dekriminalisere homoseksualitet og «lesbianism». Han sa at myndighetene ikke vil støtte noe som går mot landets kultur og advarte homoseksuelle mot å fortsette å praktisere. Uttalelsene kom i en tale i helgen under en festival med temaet “Promoting Our Cultural Heritage to Eradicate Social Vices”.

Mills var bekymret for moralen i samfunnet, og sa at «narkotikamisbruk, væpnede ran, barneprostitusjon, homoseksualitet, lesbianism, voldtekter, «defilement» og andre sex-relaterte forbrytelser» ble mer vanlig og tydet på høy grad av umoral i samfunnet. (Ghana News Agency)
